The Treasurer's Office collects current real, personal and motor vehicle taxes and oversees their disbursement to the County Government, Municipalities, Public Schools and special taxing districts of Abbeville County. The Treasurer's office also maintains records of revenues collected by these entities for financial reporting to various County and State offices.

Abbeville County is now providing the ability to search, view, and pay your current property and vehicle taxes online. Also, you may now pay by phone at: 888-514-9834. There is no charge to view or search this tax information. Click on "Search, View & Pay Taxes" to access online payment.

Q. When are taxes due?
A. Real property taxes and personal taxes, other than auto taxes, are due from October each year until January 15th without penalty. The following penalties will be added after January 15th: January 16th through February 1st– 3%, February 2nd through March 16th – 10%. After March 16th all property and personal property (except auto) will be turned over to the Tax Collector’s Office for collection.
Q. What is a Vehicle Dealer Notice?
A. The Dealer purchases your tag from the Department of Motor Vehicles and gives you one hundred twenty days to pay your taxes.
Please note payments made online may take up to 48 hours to process. After payment is processed receipts and/or decals with vehicle registration will be mailed within 7-10 business days. If you have sold or traded your vehicle or transferred the license plate; please make sure you are paying on the correct vehicle.
